Wardle Beach

We arrived at Wardle Beach with the intention of going to a lake to canoe, but we had no way to get the canoe there! So, instead of putting the boat in the water, we put the water in the boat! I didn't bring the girls' suits, until the next day so you'll see them in two different swim suits!

Grandpa joined in and even swam under the cross bar for the girls - they loved it. We joked later that Dad should get his floating mattress to float on in the canoe - for those of you who know him, you will know how hilarious that was and the laughter that followed.
At the beach, we had options to pick blackberries!! These vines were overgrown from Susan's house. We picked enough berries to make a crisp and some jam.

You can see my girls beautiful hair for on last time before it was, well... just look a the next post.

Ahhhhh!

Okay, so this is what happened when I went upstairs to take a shower. The kids were playing so great and I didn't hear any screaming, but, I made up for that when I came downstairs. Poor Ashley!

They had dots all in the same places all over their bodies! And if that wasn't bad enough, we were getting ready to head out to Alder Lake Fri morning. The girls were quiet upstairs so I finished the lunches, worked on the dishes and packed the car. When I went upstairs to get the girls ready, this is what I found!

I cried!! My girls' beautiful hair is gone - GONE! Now, Natalie's was saveable, but Baylie? Poor Baylie! I was just thinking too how much I loved her hair - her length, her color.... yeah, I cried.

Recess Monkeys

We went to a concert in Kent to see the Recess Monkeys. They are a three man group who are all 1/2 grade teachers in Seattle. They were so fun and we're glad Stephanie knew about them and shared because there were several families from Puyallup that made the trip up. You can see that Natalie and Baylie got out and danced - it was so cute to watch and fun to know that they were loving it too. One of my favorite songs - "I got a toy, but played with the box" :-)
This is the splash park area just to the side of where the band played. The girls enjoyed getting wet on this hot day.
This is Diana Jones (friend and running partner - pregnant with twin girls), me and Stephanie + our baby girls.
Ashley enjoyed the day as well and even managed to nap during the concert which was booming right by her ears!

Tacoma Narrows Bridge Half

I ran the First Tacoma Narrows Bridge Half Marathon on Saturday. I was a little nervous because I didn't have much time to train- but with what I had done, I was just fine and had a fun race. This is Jesse (Shur) Smith whom I ran and visited with for most of the race.

After the Power Gel and Gu I felt like I could have gone another 13miles!! That is amazing stuff. I finished a 1hr 53 min. Not bad!
I was #100! Kind of fun. I guess there was some restricting of production in Bejing so the race wasn't able to get the medals completed for the race so we got these glasses instead. Hey - whatever works - they are all just hanging out in a box right now anyway :-)

Bachelorette Party!

My friend Amy Arenas from Jr. High got married this weekend. I went to her bachelorette party which was at a bar! I have to say that they were kind of firsts for me. It was fun meeting her friends and in-laws. Thanks for the invite Amy! You were a beautiful bride!
The bar was Chopstix in Tacoma with Dueling pianos. It was fun to see them perform.
